Drivers Identified in Fatal West Palm Accident

A two-car crash killed one man and seriously injured another in West Palm Beach on Tuesday. The West Palm police have identified the victim of the accident as Rudolph Dansby, 55, of West Palm Beach. The driver of the other vehicle was identified as 26-year-old Jacob Donovan of Palm Beach Gardens. The accident happened at around 4 a.m. on the 4900 block of Broadway Avenue.

According to police, Mr. Donovan was speeding in a Toyota Camry southbound when he hit Mr. Dansby. Mr. Dansby’s vehicle hit a pole and he was declared dead soon after the accident. Mr. Donovan’s Camry also collided with a pole after hitting Mr. Dansby’s Ford, and his car caught on fire. Mr. Donovan was rushed to the hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries. Charges are currently pending against him for the death of Mr. Donovan.

The accident knocked over a light pole on Broadway Avenue, which ended up knocking out a few traffic lights as well. Before the accident at around 3:30 a.m., police officers attempted a DUI stop on Mr. Donovan’s Camry but he fled. Officers stopped chasing him at Juno Beach because of public safety concerns. The fatal crash with Mr. Dansby occurred soon after.
